Im a paranoid new puppy parent. Is there a list of first aid manuevers, for instance how might I induce vomiting if she eats something toxic, or what to do if shes choking on something? I hate that she keeps trying to eat rocks...

Have a look if anyone in your area offers a dog first aid course
I did one at the start of summer and it was really good. Or speak to your Vet, they will be able to give you info on a lot of those things. One of the main things if your pup is chocking on something and you just can't get at it because he's biting or so frantic you can't get near him, it sounds HORRIBLE but wait till the split second when he's passing out, then you gotta be very quick but you should be able to get in behind the ball or whatever and dislodge it - be VERY careful not to push it further down. Often a piece of cloth, or your t shirt or whatever is handy will make gripping a wedged slippery ball etc easier. If you have a stick or bone wedged across the roof of the mouth a length of bandage or stocking etc can be really helpful to keep their mouth open, you ideally need 2 people but you just hold on to each end, slip the middle into their mouth behind their canine teeth and pull up gently. (It's so hard to describe this stuff, it's much easier if someone can show you!!!!) As for inducing Vomiting both lectric soda (washing soda) or peroxide will work but you need to know the dosage for your dogs weight so speak to a Vet ) This may give you an idea of a few things to put together "just in case" Whats's in your first aid kit?last but not least - don't let the worrying stop you enjoying your puppy Learn as much as you can but when in doubt - call the Vet
