Gulping down kibble

So I've tried some things that were mentioned on here and other sites. I'm now to the point that I'm putting to cans of canned food into his bowl with 1.5cups of food and it isn't slowing my guy down at all. The breeder says she tried the cookie sheet and it didn't work. I'm up for some other ideas.

they make special bowls just for this. they have nubs that stick up and the food gets trapped in between them that makes them really have to work to get the food out. you may want to do a google search

Putting the kibble in water works for us plus I like the added hydration. None of my foods have citric acid but I have heard even that was never really shown to be an issue. I actually like to soak it for about 30 minutes. Doesn't slow it down too much but at least they are not choking on it.

When I got my pug she had this issue. I put my hand over her bowl every time she took a bite. I did this for about 2 weeks or so. She's never had an issue with it since. You can also get rid of the bowl for now and hand feed. My pug is no where near as smart as a shepherd, and she caught on to this. She was able to slow down and chew instead of just inhaling. When I gave Grim a can of food, he'd take huge chunks of it in his mouth and swallow it. "Floating food" in water also does help according to the pug forum I went to for help with this.
