Hi there,
We have a 6 month old GSD puppy who is doing very well, but has one minor issue. She gets on famously with our 2 cavalier King Charles spaniels, everyone is generally happy. The male CKCS spaniel will tell the GSD when he doesn't want to play and will discipline her with a growl or a small nip( nothing hurtful) and the GSD will stop. However our smaller female CKCS while she really enjoys playing will have her collar 'attacked' by the GSD . I know this is play but I don't like the collar being pulled during play. The GSD ( yoko) will stop doing this when told to but I am not with them 24/7. ( and I don't crate). Has anyone else experienced this and can they recommend a collar that is less interesting to bite? I've tried the bitter sprays on it. At the moment I remove the collar when unsupervised but it's getting irritating to do that all the time . Hmm I wonder if fur saver collars might do the trick after writing all this ...... Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

This is how the "big dogs" play, but make sure that her teeth won't get caught under the collar. That happened with my two females and they panicked, and we couldn't remove the collar, etc... Scary moment! Make sure that the collar is the "quick release" and always supervise their play. Don't allow the puppy to torture the older dog either...that would be unfair to the older dog who does not have endless energy of a puppy.
Good luck! |
