Default Color changing

My GSD pup originally was brown and tan when I got him but he is slowly changing to more of a Black and Tan... I registered him as brown and tan... If he changes color, do I need to change it on his registration?

can you post a picture of him? Are you sure he isn't a sable? They are the only ones that tend to get more black. A B/T will mostly like have the black recede and get more tan on him.

ETA: found a picture. That puppy is a sable, not a black/tan. You may have registered him incorrectly.

Indeed, you registered him as the incorrect color. He's a sable

Default Re register?

Ok so does that mean I have to re register him or get it corrected? I'm new to all this. What's that mean sable?

It's just a color. The dominant color in the breed, actually. Sables have banded hairs, rather than solid.

I think you would have to call AKC to get it corrected.

My sable puppy at 13 weeks

My puppy now
