Ate the wormer like it was a treat
Lisl is my fifth GSD, but the only puppy or dog I've ever had that would eat a wormer tablet without a fuss. She ate the tablet like it was a treat. I've never seen that before.
I was prepared to have to push it down her throat like I've had to for so many other dogs. I never had any luck hiding any kind of a pill in food. |
Pill pockets are the best thing in the world! You can pick them up at most pet stores or vets office. You just shove the pill in there an seal it up and the dog thinks it is the best thing in the world! You're lucky Lisl takes pills so well though

Keira eats them too, I thought it was odd as well! My chihuahua won't eat any. Lol

My GSD was being treated with a sulfa based antibiotic...he's normally a PITA to give pills to, and won't take most pill pocket treats (he's so picky). These he ate right out of my hand with no extras...it was so weird.
Usually I wrap them in hand-warmed cheddar cheese. It's the only treat that works for pills for him. |
I rip pill pockets into tiny pieces so as to save money. They are incredibly expensive!
Some dogs think it's all a treat. We use canned food (a spoon of it), cheese, pill pockets, or just shove down throat. For a dog on abx, or like my Tristan who's on heart meds for live, pill pockets are just more convenient. There's also a thing called "Flavor-doh" which is like pill pockets in a tub and you pinch off however much you need :) |
