I was doing my socialization with known vaccinated/clean dogs much earlier than waiting that long.
The dog park is probably the very last place I would take a puppy both for disease issues and total lack of control of the dogs he/she may meet there. I think controlled socialization in a training class would be a lot more beneficial. Too many horror stories.

Isn't rabies at 6 months? Most dog parks do have rules that your dog has to be at least 6 months and have the rabies vaccine to use the park. I know that the rules aren't followed but it is a pretty good safety guideline.
In my area we have a bunch of county owned dog parks. In order to use it you need a $20 yearly pass, in order to get that you have to license your dog with the county for $12-24, and in order to get licensed you need to have a 6 month old dog and show a rabies certificate. So...in order to use the dog park your dog should have the rabies vaccine.
