Default How can I help my pup cool off?

I just got my pup yesterday (I'll post pictures if he ever lets me take any), and he's all fluff. He literally looks like a small white sheep. I've noticed that when we play he pants for quite a long time after. The house temperature seems on the cool side to me, but I guess not to him. I put an ice pack up against his back legs and it seems to be helping. What else can I do to help him cool down after we play? Will he acclimatize eventually?

It is normal for him to pant...if it seems excessive you may want to have him seen by a vet to check his heart.

Hmm ok. I just saw the vet this morning and all was well. I'll just keep the heat off.

He's just turned 8 weeks. We do some ball chasing and plodding around but he's quite big and awkward so he gets pooped after 10 minutes or so. Maybe its nerves not the heat... After all it is only his 2nd day here.
