Puppy shedding questions!
 

I've been reading a few other similar older posts but couldn't quite find what I was looking for unless I am just blind(which is highly possible) :D

Ollie will be four months next week and I've been noticing that he is scratching a lot and when he does big chunks of his black puppy coat are coming out. Right now he's on Orijen 6 fish along with real meat I make for him(he's a super picky eater), I don't 'think' it's allergies because his coat is super gorgeous, soft and shiny.

Is it possible his adult coat is coming in? I thought he was a little young for that but this is my first GSD pup so I'm in new territory here. :)

Thoughts?! I'll be a little bit sad if he's losing his poofy puppy coat. :o

Looks like a longcoat pup, and now is about the time you'll start to see puppy fuzz coming out and adult hair coming in. Just keep brushing him, that will help get rid of the old and bring in the new.

Worm him every two weeks for a few months, the time of year and indor and outdoor too might mean something. I can not see as much as I want to, but will help you ever

My bitch used to lose clumps of hair when blowing a coat. I was surprised how early Grim's coat started to change into adult coat. It was about the age you're posting. He also started scratching a lot. Increasing brushing and bathing him seemed to help. I think the first blow is bothersome to them, especially when it's being replaced with a different type of fur. :)

I'm not surprised cause of the long haired GSD. Long haired dogs shed so much. My puppy is 16 weeks old (short hair) and she doesn't shed yet but her coat as changed from that very soft pushy baby coat to the more shinier and longer coat with the tans starting to come in.

Thanks everyone! I didn't realize that this would start so young... I'm excited for his adult coat but going to miss the poof. And yes he is a LC. :)

I sat with him and brushed him for awhile tonight... if you've ever seen the movie Bambi, I got lots of Thumper impressions while I was doing it. He seemed to like it. :D
