Funny story just thought i'd share with you guys, Odin was never allowed to be on our couches when we are in the room with him he'll always lay at our feet or in his own bed, I am now in the stages of teaching him to be by himself, so I leave him in the room from time to time, every time I return I catch him on the couch sleeping lol, as soon as he see's me he jumps right off and goes back to his regular spot, I guess i'm not really enforcing it or correcting it, because when me or anyone else is in the room, he knows his place just funny that he's trying to test the waters as much as he is

you could be enforcing just fine. Or not, but dogs will do that. Eventually they learn and some dogs are slightly mischievous that they'll do it when you're not looking. AKA siberian huskies. Some dogs have a little cat in them. haha

My guy usually asks before he gets up - gives me that pathetic shepherd look and then I invite him up - he does that too before he gets on the bed too but he usually has to whine a bit so I understand haw badly he really wants up
