Probably asked a million times looking for reassurance
We have a Vet appointment in a week. Just wondering. Our 14 week old shepherd puppie sleeps all the time. Like 75% of the time she is sleeping and dreaming. is this REALLY normal for a puppie?
|
How is she when awake?
|
For the 25% what is she doing?
and what they said ! how is she when she awakes? |
the time she is awake she is active but not hyper. Very very mellow dog. and smart too. But not puppy like in anyway

Even adult dogs may sleep 18-20 hours a day. Puppies tend to gogogo...SLEEP. I'd say for every hour awake, 3 asleep is about right.

hm... maybe its best to have a mellow dog. :P
if all it is, is her sleeping maybe it isn't much serious. My pup kind of sleeps a lot, but when up he is hyper and jumping, do you take your pup out ? |
that is about right when the dog has choice . Too many people are over stimulating their young dogs and then the dog stresses (physiologically) just like you being over worked and over tired , and that is when your immune dips and you get "the flu" "the cold" . Growth happens when at deep rest . Your dog looks to be in excellent shape by the way !

Thanks I think she is just a really mellow dog. When she sleeps she does a lot of REM. So she must be tired. When she is up. She is active and responsive. Just not hyperactive. Which Is what I was expecting. |
