Default First Male Dog

Gunnar is my first male dog, my last 6 dogs were female but I wanted a male this time.

Anyways, at 9 weeks, this little guy seems to get pee over his feet and belly when he squats. I was wondering if I trimmed the long hairs where his penis protrudes if it would help him to not dribble pee all over that area. Those hairs are at least an inch long and hold urine too so when he comes back inside and lays on the carpet he's leaving pee behind that way as well.

Thoughts? Has anyone else trimmed these hairs?

When he lifts his leg as he gets older, he will pee all over his feet and leg too. Mine even peed on his own face a few times because he had to look between his legs to see what was going on. I have a towel by the door to wipe up pee pee legs and feet or whatever gets peed on.

OMG.. thank you for that laugh this morning!! I really needed it! My male used to pee on his front legs, etc. too. Once, one of our other dogs decided to 'check him out' while he was going and got pee on their face. You can cut the hairs (PLEASE have help and be very, very careful!!), but I think you may still have some issues with it. Mine had no such hair growth there, but still managed to pee on his own leg pretty frequently.

Mine does occasionally but he eventually either grew out of it or finally figured out how to stand after enough times of peeing all over his front legs.

He's got cream-colored fur on that part of his body too so it shows =/. A lot.

The long hair on the end I thought helped "guide" the stream, or at least that's what I've heard from others. Mine used to have that too. Not anymore. Maybe that's what changed and why he doesn't pee on his legs anymore?
