On my way to get Grim a 'big boy' kennel and pad!
He's grown so much... and his kennel is looking a little small for him now. He's also dependable to not potty in his kennel, and he loves the old girl's bed so much that I'm getting a pad for his new one. I hope I'm making the right choice. I still am undecided between the one that has metal on the sides or plastic. I don't think it will make too much of a difference. He's not hard on his kennel (he LOVES it!). I can put a water bowl on the front door and I have battery operated fans to set in front of it. I guess I'll let you know when we get back what kind I end up with, LOL!

Good luck! I'm going shopping for a bigger kennel soon to, don't have room for a full size crate in the bedroom but Ollie still needs to be crated so he doesn't get into things.
![]() The one I'm using now is the goldens from when he was a puppy, it's 'just' big enough for Ollie lol. I'd say its like a jack Russell sized crate. :P Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

UGH!! On the Petsmart website, it says they have some of the Veri kennels in the store. They had NONE of those brands! I'm going to have to order it online and have it sent to the new house. It won't get here before we move. Since I have the fans, I'm hoping that the plastic will be OK. He really loves his kennel now. It's a Veri kennel, and it's sturdy so I want to stay with the same kind. Anyone know if the ones with the metal bars on the side are any better than the variation that just has plastic vents on the side?
This is the one I'm planning on ordering. The 40" long one. I don't think he'll be more than 90lbs. Or should I go with the 42"?? http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo

I had to order my vari-kennel too...I asked my small local mom&pop pet store to order it for me so gave them the $ instead of an online store. They matched price and I saved on the shipping.
Most everyone I train with just use the Remingtons with no problems. My XL vari-kennel has three locks on the front. I drilled big holes in the back of it for better ventilation. Karlo is fine in his crate, settles and is not a reactive dog, so one lock would be just fine for him. |

Frankly the ones with the metal bars make me nervous, every puppy I've ever has has gotten a paw or apart of their muzzle stuck between the bars so I'm leery of them.

Karlo's is the XL pictured here: Vari Kennel Traditional Dog Crate - Airline Approved - 1800PetMeds
He is 27" tall and can stand in it fine. I wouldn't go any larger. He fits in a 42" wire but it is tight(he's only crated when we travel to training) |
