I've always used crates in the past with my shepherds, but since Grim was sent in a kennel (and loved it so much!) mixed with having to driving him to training, etc. I wanted to stay with a kennel. Your guy is cute!
Oh, BTW... I have one of the tallest Pugs I've ever seen! She's got super long legs, which makes Grim look short in comparison if you don't know how tall she is.

I think I changed my mind. I think I am going to get the 48" kennel. I'm just worried about him being cramped in there when he's grown. I don't think he'd be able to stretch out in a kennel that's 40" long, especially when that's the outside measurement. He likes to kind of lay 'long' when he's got a chew stick.
The only good part is that Petsmart carries the 48" in store, so I wouldn't have to wait on shipping. I was looking at the Sky Kennel (also by Veri-kennel) because it has the back vents already in it. However, I can't find a place that has it with free shipping at a decent price. The places that sell it for about $200 have shipping added that is about $100!! For that kennel, a $34 pad and shipping would be about $330! That's just too much. The 48" kennel itself at Petsmart is about $212. That's about as high as I'm willing to go. The online retailer told me when I called that the Sky kennel was the 'toughest' of all the kennels, but when I read a review on them it sounded like it wasn't any different than the other one besides the vents in the back.. which it said were cut after the molding. Sounds like it wouldn't be any different than cutting the holes in the back myself.

I got the 48" kennel, but I'm not sure it will fit in the back of my truck! It may be too tall, unless I can manage to shove it in there. If not, I'll have to sell my truck and get a conversion van. I'm OK with that, as long as I can actually sell my beast!

Get a smaller crate for the vehicle...it is a pain to load/unload everytime, and Grim will be fine in a smaller one. The crate should be tethered so it doesn't tip or shift. A 48" will not fit in many rides.
Cheaper to buy a smaller crate than another vehicle! |

I have a 48" for home use, and the next size smaller for the car. My guy is ok with it for just driving and being out and about.

Wow he's looking so grown up and handsome! I actually can't wait till Ollie's that big, lol. Mostly so that I can start sleeping through the night again without having to do potty breaks.
Yeah I'm still stuck in the going potty every couple of hours stage, lol.And you're right, that is the tallest pug I've ever seen! I love pugs though. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App
