My GSP just got neutered, have some questions on time
 

My big guy just got neutered yesterday at the age of 7 months old. Hes wearing a cone to keep him from licking or eating the stitches and the doctor said he has to wear that cone for 14 days. Do i really have to wait that long, or is 7 days enough, 14 days seems like it is really long? Im gonna go by how it looks, but any help is appreciated.

7 days ought to be fine...are they dissolvable? That is, did they glue the outside of the incision and the stitches are inside, or did they stitch that too?

they are not dissolvable, they are visible on the outside.

Well then our vet usually recommends removal at 10 days, but definitely let the dog wear the cone for a week.
Then at 10 days see how things are going.
We've had dogs remove their own stitches (rescued/fosters) but if that's going to occur we'd like the dog to at least wait 7 days, 10 would be preferable ;)
