Default puppy to small?

He is a male that is 8 weeks old that was found on the streets. I don't know who his mother and father were, but he is purebred according to the vet. He only weighs about 7 pounds and I'm afraid that he wont be 60-100 pounds. I have no idea what his bloodline is and I don't even know what a bloodline is! He is very small and about 22 in in length. Please tell me what I need to do to find out his full grown size and if you can est.

Thanks

If you post some pictures we may be able to throw some guesses out there.

Knowing nothing about his parents there's no way to guess what he'll weigh as an adult. I don't know how a vet can say with certainty that he's purebred even.

8 weeks and 7 pounds!?!?! Is he very malnourished and skinny? Or does he look like he is fine. If he looks like he is fine...I doubt this is a pure bred GSD. He should be at least double that by this time, but that's also dependent on if he is truly 8 weeks old.

He'll grow up to be his full size. My boy had parvo when he was 9 weeks old. He didn't get food for a week and lost a lot of weight. Today he is 85 lbs and exactly the same size as his brothers.

Suki was 14 pounds when we got her at 7 weeks - and she is a mix. I doubt that your pup is full bred unless it is just very sick or malnourished. Have you taken this dog to see a vet?

Now, he was found very very very very very very skinny on the streets. If you look at him, he is skinny from the back and a little meaty in the front if you look down at his back.

If he was found on the streets, are you sure he's a German Shepherd?

Do you have any pictures?

Yes he is. 100% sure he is, I just called the rescue group and they said that the vet said he was purebred

There is no way for a vet to know for sure that any dog is 100% pure bred without seeing the parents. My dog was 8 pounds at 12 weeks but something is wrong with her and she isn't growing right. I would bet it's a mix. Or sickly. But we need pics.
