Chloe is a great girl... at home. She listens very well, learns quickly and doesn't cause any problems. We're still working on controlling her excitement when she greets visitors and making some very good improvements.
When we're out walking, visiting family/friends or at obedience, she is an absolute terror. She goes crazy with excitement and cannot be controlled unless I'm stuffing one of her favorite treats in her mouth (and that is 50/50). Even places where we go to regularly, like my parents house once a week, she goes nuts! I keep hearing this is a puppy thing but I'm starting to worry. She if about 17 weeks old (had her for 9) and if anything it is getting worse. What can I be doing to curb this behaviour? |

She's NORMAL!
Why do you think most of us have to do this a few times a week? And this (you may want to particularly scroll thru to the 2:00 mark) PLUS the reason you keep seeing most of recommend all the puppy/dog classes is because this IS hard for us to do on our own and I know I'd much rather benefit from the vast knowledge and experience of those that have raised and trained hundreds of dogs! They really do know more and can help. Look at all these smart puppies and their owners! I know I have to find ways to mentally and physically wear these darn puppies out. And I'll use anyway and anyone to do it so it's peace and wonderfulness when we get back home.
