Hello
I have some questions and just some update on how Zoey is doing Zoey came about 2 weeks ago to our home and is like a little terror now.. LOL, she is mouthy.. woeeewheeee talk about mouthy and I for some reason cant remember 10 years ago when our Golden Retreiver was a puppy if she had just as sharp of baby teeth- let alone as mouthy. I am working on replacing things in her mouth instead of my hand.. but boy the kids get home from school and she has the power of running up to them and litterally leaping up on them and already almost knocking them down. So we are working on this with her.. the mouthing , face.. leaping into it and mouthing and biting right into the face when she gets excited greeting or playing, and of course if the neighbors little girls come over in dresses/skirts- I do feel its Zoeys ultimate love.. yanking the bottom of these little girls skirts and playing tug or war.. it doenst last long as I have to physically remove her jaw from their skirts- and repeat the process several times- kids run upstairs and play- kids come back downstairs and it starts all over with removing Zoeys Jaws off their skirts.. The one girl bless her heart- went home I noticed and came back with pants on... LOL A question I have- Zoeys ears.. they were floppy outward when she arrived at 7 weeks old.. at 8 1/2 weeks old they changed shape and its so funny looking.. One curves inward the other outward. and if you sing a high pitched song- that curved ear that is flipped over her head now- stands straight up Does the second ear soon follow this pattern.. Or is this one of those tell tale signs that she will have a strong ear that stands up and the other will need help? or is it.. anyone guess and this is what they do naturally as the cartilage gets stronger..etc ( just curious) cause it sure is funny looking.. hehehehe She is really a very sweet girl.. she learned sit in a few days- not with treats either... Just me walking her and get to a certain stand still and I just make her sit/ by pulling up on the leash some. Then a few days later I noticed if I were in the house and said Sit- she just did it.. I thought now that was cool- no treat training and she does it So now Before I give her the food bowl- I say sit, before I giver her chew bone I say sit, before I open the door to go outside I say sit.. etc I have been reading alot on the forum- but my dh beleives totally different... and doesnt make her earn a thing.. just gives it to her.. he is this dr. doo little and already she seems to just naturally listen to him better. MAN HE ALWAYS ENDS UP GETTING THE DEVOTED DOG TO HIM.... What can I do.. to try and get Zoey to bond with me.. over him.. I want her bonded to all in the family. But I am telling you all... every single time I get a puppy and a family dog.. the dog.. always listens to him and follows him everywhere. LMAO Heres some photos of our sweet Zoey This photos is when she is 7 weeks old ![]() Here she is today at 9 weeks old/ MAN DO THEY GROW QUICK.. AND her ears.... see the funny ear and the floppy ear.. She is just too cute!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is when I am singing to her.. that one curved ear inward- MOVES STRAIGHT ON UP.... hehehhee

She is adorable - the ears are perfectly normal... you will probably see many more stages of puppy ears before they are up fully! There was a thread (old one) where they named the different "phases" of puppy ears. It was the cutest... you'll have to look it up.
As far as attacking at the door - I broke Wendy of it by forcing everyone to ignore her when they come in the door. Don't look at her - and when she tries to bite or pounce - I correct her by stuffing (really stuffing) a toy in her mouth or poking her in the side or tummy with a finger knuckle to get her to not jump on people. Once she calms down, I let her get pets or cuddles. At first it seems harsh - but it's best to teach her when she is small and young and easier to control... try pushing a 50 lb GSD around when it's excited and jumping at your guests wearing pretty white coats! Keep those pics coming - I can look at those ears all day!

I do stuff toys lol..I'm her mouth constantly. And yes I will try and tell the guest to ignore her when they enter. Then say hi to her when she is relaxed. Thanks again Quote:

Oh wow! She is beautiful
![]() The ear thing is very normal. Up, down, up, down. You will probably see many stages The biting is pretty normal too. Little landsharks. It to should pass. You might try putting a leash on her when kids are coming in the house. Just keep working with her on being calm when visitors come over. Maybe work with her on laying in her dog bed when they are coming in the door. Work on "stay" As far as the bonding...I dunno know. I didn't do anything with mine or even try to bond with them. I just potty trained them (hubby left that up to me LOL). They all attached to me pretty quick........but I will say this, even though my female is attached to me and follows me, she absolutely adores my hubby. She acts totally different with my hubby. It's hard to explain......but she is more affectionate with my hubby. |
