Default Heartbroken....Then Elated!

So today has been a rollercoaster of emotions since my last post! The breeder called around 4:45 to let us know that our boy had been diagnosed with an esophagus issue. Their vet said at this point it isn't bothering him, however, it could turn into a lifelong health issue.

The vet gave us a few options...take him at no cost, or wait until May. Both options were heartbreaking for us. My hubby isn't a first time dog owner, but I am, and potential health issues make me very nervous. Waiting till May would devestate us. We've been anxiously waiting since November and I'd be so sad looking at an empty crate.

7:00pm comes around...and we are OVER THE MOON! The breeder called to advise that she had a long-coated female shepherd from another litter that would be ready to go home Saturday. She is stunning. Needless to say, we have opted to go with her!

We need help with names!!!! Our options are:
  • Lexi
  • Jasmine (Jazz)
  • Scarlett
  • Alice
  • Callie
*Note: Paul & I were engaged at Disney World and love all things Disney. Hence the Jasmine & Alice references. Our families love Lexi...

Congrats, what a sweetie!

I also want to give props to your breeder for noticing a problem with your boy, taking him to the vet and getting a diagnosis, then letting you know about the issue and giving you different options on how to proceed. The sad truth is that many breeders would not have cared about the health of a pup, and would have been happy to sell it a full price to an unsuspecting owner. Sad, but true, so I am very pleased for you that you have found someone with ethics and conscientiousness.

From your list of names, my vote is for Lexi!

I agree with everything Castlemaid said. Good job on finding a good breeder. For names, I vote for Jazz since I have a Jazz
