Hello,
I am the owner of a 4 month old male GS Puppy and I have caught him 3 seperate times in the past 3 weeks eating another dog's poop. I don't know if this is normal, if it's because he's not getting enough nurtience or something, or if it's the start of a behavioral problem. Any advise would be more than helpful....

Our puppy did the same things. Some things that people said might work was pineapple in his food, pumpkin in his food, but what worked for us was meat tenderizer in his food. I think that after about a week or 2 of adding the tenderizer he stopped. Either that or he outgrew it. We would stop him every time we saw him as well.

How is he getting access to other dogs' poops?

Keep your dog on a leash and teach it the "leave it" command. I've had pups that love them a turd sandwich. The best is when they try to lick you after..ewww! We had to sit there and wait for them to finish pooping and pick it up right away. Out of sight out of mind.

My puppy did the same thing. I changed her food and that seemed to help the most. As mentioned from another post, I also kept her on a leash including in the backyard and the "leave it" command is priceless!

My dog used to do this, but he'd eat his own poop. I never caught him eating my other dogs-I just monitor them when they go outside to poop. I tell him no and clean it up right away-just not giving him an opportunity is how I dealt with it.
