Sorry for not responding. I completely forgot about my thread. Well my chihuahua lives inside the house with me and I also have a female chihuahua, and she is just afraid of my GSD. Everytimes my GSD gets close to my male chihuahua to sniff him, he just snaps at her/growls at her. She backs away and then tries it again.

You didn't say how old your "puppy" is, but generally, puppies are very annoying. Combine that with a smaller more vulnerable dog, and you can see why your older dog doesn't like the puppy. The best thing to do is to keep them apart and supervise. In time they may become best friends, but puppy antics are very annoying.

Just give them time and supervise. If the puppy gets to rough, make sure you tone the pup down, and don't let the older ones be nasty to him either.
I have a older Chi female (boss, hehe, but very nice one) a 1 year old rescue male Chi and then Sam, the 4 1/2 month old Shep puppy. At first Dexter (male chi) was terrified of Sam. Dex has always had very low confidence. But Dexter also LOVES to play, so eventually when Sam ran away, Dex would chase after him. As he gained confidence that turned to wrestling and playing nonstop. I just make sure it doesn't get to out of hand, so they know I will get in between if either gets to rough. It is working beautifully, they are such buddies now. The female Chi also loves Sam, but she doesn't play. Sam leaves her alone and is very respectful to her, he will lick her face but he is never ever rough with her. Here are some examples...Sam, first day home, Dex is the sand colored Chi and you can see he was terrified Dexter thinks it "could" be kind of fun to play "catch me", but still very nervous First attempt at actual play, still being careful to all out wrestling matches and lots of fun, have many such videos... fairly recent one, both were tired, but to bored to just sleep..hehe I actually just made a new video, its uploading right now. In the new one Sams ears are both up !! My point is, little and big dogs can work, you just have to make sure both sides understand that you are in charge and that you will protect either side if needed and that you will not allow bullying or unneccessarly roughness !

aaand the one from today. Rather boring, because both of them were tired, but just couldn't stop playing, acting like little kids, hehe
