Default Pano in 9 month old?

Having a GSD pup is QUITE the adventure. And I am extremellllly overprotective and worried about every little thing.

2 weeks ago we had to go to the emergency vet cuz he swallow a ball whole and they forced him to throw it up.... and now....

He has a very slight limp in his front right paw. No tenderness, doesn't cry, but the limp is def there. Came about today all of a sudden and I am not sure the reason. I assume Pano? He puts pressure on it, my GF is a doctor and I know its not the same as a Vet but she palpated his joints and said nothing is swollen, no tenderness, and he doesn't react or cry out if you touch anything. I can't seem to find any cuts, and no ticks on his body and on Tick med's so I figure I can rule out tick-born illness....

Any help or idea on what to do would be appreciated! I just freak out!! Oh, and he isn't overweight at all.

Recent pic of him passed out on couch

Pano is very possible in a 9 month old pup. Back off on exercise, especially jumping.

Thanks for the response guys... at what point should I take him to the vet?

I have pet insurance thank goodness but I am currently waiting on a claim and don't have the funds for another expensive vet visit until I hear back from VPI.

There is nothing the vet can do for Pano....it has to run its course. Though they may prescribe Rimadyl or other pain reliever. Personally, I'd rather have the dog feel the pain so they will self limit the exercise. Also massaging the legs helps.

IMO, diet and genetics play a part in whether a dog suffers thru a bout or many.
I have 2 dogs that went thru it-both long legged and 90# at maturity and both are raw fed.
Vitamin C(human grade, natural with rosehips) will help reduce the length of a bout....it is a natural anti-inflammatory and will support the immune system. Don't give EsterC to a young dog, as it contains 50mg of calcium which isn't recommended for growing pups. So a Natural C(500mg) to start then over a week up to 1000, another week give a 1000mg am and pm with the meal. If you see runny concrete type poo, then the dog may be having a hard time absorbing it.
One other thing, if you give aspirin for the pain, the C may keep the aspirin from absorbing, and the dog will build up aspirin in the system....so either C or Aspirin, but not both. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/d...ural/1001.html

Onyx'Girl you help me with everything lol thank you so much. I know the vet can't do anything for Pano, but I was thinking I could take him to confirm what it is? Incase it's something else? I am just very worried

Look over the paw pads, in between, and the nails. Gently squeeze the elbow area and shoulder to see if there is any sensitivity. If you do have insurance, an X-ray will diagnose Pano, as long as the vet knows what to look for. I still wouldn't accept any pain Rx meds as there are risks to them. Search Pano here for more info, lots of it out there, as it is too common in the GSD.
I hope he feels better soon, that's a great pic by the way!

Checked pads and between toes and everything. Squeezed and palpated and tested range of motion. No tenderness, no pain response, full range of motion. I guess ill just see what happens. I won't give him pain meds. I jsut gave him one of my 500mg vitamin C pills. Will up dosage. No dog park tomorrow and only short walks to see what happens I guess.

Stress! lol. He is like my best friend and my son I freak out if he squeeks wrong.
