Default One person change gsd attitude?

So im posting this because I have a general question about a pups 'personality' for lack of a better word. For the last 2 weeks geminon has been changing in great ways he's bitten me maybe 10 -15 times compared to 20 times in one day! During the day time he behaves really well is patient waiting for his food and to play and just been the ideal pup. But come 6 o'clock when our dad gets home he goes crazy again! he pretty much destroyed one part of the sofa for no reason (at least no reason i can think of) and just acts like he's 2 months old again. Has this happened to anyone else with their pups? It seems he only gets this way now when our dad comes home from work. Is it all just play? We have a training session with a trainer/behaviorist this weekend so looking forward to what feedback she can give us, but just wanted opinions from other GSD owners.

Sherman can be nice and well mannered all day...until my husband gets home than he is running around and jumping. I think it has more to do with

1)my husband is gone a lot so he doesn't get to see him much
and 2)my husband insists on playing crazy when he is home

Does your dad rough house with the pup?

it has to do with your training and socializing.

train and socialize. he can't destroy things when crated
or your watching him. is your dog in a puppy class,
do you have a trainer, do you know how to train a dog,
is everyone in the household being responsible for the pup?

His training and socializing are going just fine. My point was a dog will react different to different people, and maybe I didn't state it well. Sherman gets very excited when my husband gets home. Does he tear up couches like the OP's dog...no but he is also older and very well managed. He does however follow my husband around like he has meat dangling out of his pockets. Even our 9 yr old who is very well trained gets more excited when my husband gets home vs me whom they are home with all day. I was not implying that it was normal and she shouldn't work on training it out of him, but rather answering her question that yes one person can change the dynamic.

Training is going great, he knows all his commands really well, though his come when called is still a little weak with distractions. The sofa biting happened once about 2 months ago and never again till last night, always in the same spot. I will say my dad was not giving him the usual attention that he usually gives him last night So i thought he was doing it to get his attention, which he did. The more our dad would yell out "stop no " the more he would do it. Finally we ended up telling our dad to just go to bed and we (my sister and i) would deal with it. 2 minutes later he looked around like "hey where did he go?" and then fell asleep.

I see what you mean withyour husband getting home and your pup following him, its the same thing here.

And yes my dad is the only one in the house that really rough plays with him. I saw someone else post that their pup bites when roughplaying thankfully geminon doesnt do that when it's play time he stays to the toys except when he tries to innitiate play time in which case he may give a nip or two.
