We are at our witt's end with Bandit our almost 14 month old Shepherd. We take him out to do his potty he will pee or poop, we then leave him to go shopping, gone less then 2 1/2 hours and he has pooped and peed all over the livingroom and kitchen. We feed him once in the morning by 6am and again by 3pm. We take him out for play time, go about our evening business, we bring him out one last time before we go to bed. He will come to my side of the bed and whine to go out, I take him its normally around 11:30pm, he wakes me up again at around 2:00am, I go down and he has pooped all over the floor. I let him out clean it and also steam mop to ensure it is totally clean. He comes back in wakes me again at about 4:30am I take him out and actually watch him pee, I go back to bed and go down at about 6am and has peed on the floor and pooped again. I tried to recrate him but he will pee right on his bed and or poop and its even worse because then I have to bath the dog. I have not worked a full day since I have had him because he cannot be left for more then a couple of hours. He does go to daycare on Tuesday and Thursday's. We love him very much but we are tired, sick of cleaning poop and pee. I had two Shepherds that I have raised until the passed away and never have had issues like this. Can anyone help?

Have you had him checked for a UTI?
She said crating is worse because then he does it in the bed and she has to clean the bed and the dog. I would think that this sounds like a medical issue. If not a UTI, then something is going on with the kidneys/sphincters, etc.

i think you should take him to the Vet to make
sure there's nothing medically wrong. if you go to the Vet take a stool and urine sample with you. i would crate my dog if he were having accidents. i also would take him out more often and i would take him out during the night. don't wait for your dog to wake you to go out. since your dog is waking you up at 2:00 am after he's gone in the house get up at 1:30 am and take him out. hopefully there's nothing medically wrong and a schedule change will help.

You don't have a bed in your dogs crate?
Anyway... I am going with the medical issue. Thats the only thing that makes sense. At 14 months old they shouldn't be going out that often at night to begin with.

I have bedding in my dog's crates, they don't mess in the crate. My daughter's Beagle doesn't mess in his crate, UNLESS he has bedding in it. Every time.

Have you tried leashing and tethering so he can't have free run of the house while you're away?
I'd use a towel alone in the crate, when you do crate, to make it easy to wash. This poo you are talking about though, is it nice round and firm poops or is it loose/soft/runny? I second the vet visit. He could have things going on that are making it difficult for him to hold his bowel and bladder. |
