Default It's raining, it's pouring...

It's raining really hard today. It's supposed to thunderstorm today also.

Can I walk Sura in the rain, or should I exercise her inside? I don't have anything to cover her with. =/

Forget the puppy, *I* don't go for walks in the pouring rain, lol! A little rain isn't going to hurt her but she may be reluctant to go out if it's raining hard, so you might want to find some things to do with her in the house.

I take advantage of rain days, it's usually my only day off from walking the dogs. I have put my rain jacket on and walked the dogs in the rain unless its raining really hard, then they just get soaked. My dogs don't seem to mind a day off.

Shes only 3 months old so I dont want to chance her getting sick. (And I'm just getting over a bad cold too!)

So what could I do with her in the house? Right now shes trying to get treats out of Tupperware. Its occupying her ..for now. :P

Ice cubes, puppies LOVE them ... They save my mornings, Sadie keeps herself entertained and it's great for teething too. Sometimes I load up a bottle of ice cubes and she plays with that forever. Another trick, I take the real bones you can buy at the pet store, (not rawhide) and they are hollow. I use all natural peanut butter and put it inside. Then I freeze it. Keeps Sadie busy and boredom free.

Any type of toy you can load treats in usually keep them occupied.

Rainy days are great for clicker training too

I am a 365/year, rain, snow...whatever kind of guy, and I live at 6500' where snow can be 4' over night. I think I really do it more to annoy my wife, and to justify a $600.00 Arc-Terx jacket. My dogs are always entertained by something new. Your profile pic shows a young one, maybe only around the block before the shivering starts...but go, it will be a blast!

I made it a point to walk Shasta in the rain. She was 12 weeks old when i brought her home. Riley refuses to go outside and potty when its raining. Shasta will go out no problems and do her business and come back in. I leave Riley outside until he goes.

My dog is a crack addict for ice cubes. Right now I am sitting here drinking my iced tea while she stares at my solo cup waiting for her ice cubes.... a little drizzle is fine to walk in, a monsoon- probably not. work on obedience in 15-20 minute increments, play "find it" work on her sit/stay. i put peanut butter or yogurt in her kong and freeze it

I have played ball with Beau in the rain two times today. Ick. He needs a bath. My feet have red stains from the mud. My house is a wreck. But what are you going to do? I dont think I can handle the alternative. Just towel em off and you are good.

I really havent ever seen them get cold unless they are cold, wet, and still (like in the back of an open vehicle in a crate without a pad) as long as they are moving....well that has been my experience. Gotta go play in the rain. Beau is grumbling so that will be three (he is 18 weeks old)

I always PRAY for rain when I have a little puppy for this exact reason. (And I've not had one that wouldn't "go" when it was raining because I take then out to play in the rain.)

Put on a coat and take that puppy OUTSIDE! You may live to regret it if you don't.
