My white GSD was all white except pee stain when sold, but since she was 3 months old, her new-grown overcast furs on her back started turning yellow and now her back has a cream stripe. I want her to be all white, so any ideas on dog fur bleaching product that is healthy and effective? Thanks
No. just no. The cream is the actual color of her hair. You don't bleach them. That's her fur color. Is normal and natural for white GSD to have some beige.
It is extremely rare to see a 100% all white gsd. Virtually every white gsd will have some tan/cream showing through.
It seems like the person you bought the dog from was simply lying about the yellow being a pee stain to make the dog seem more exotic and to try getting a higher price.
As gsds pups age, the coats change colors a lot. Someone else can explain it much better than I can. The 'stain' is not spreading...her true coat is simply coming through.
Also, you've probably noticed your dog sheds...the 'stained' fur would've fallen off long ago & clean white ones would be there by now.
Please don't attempt to bleach your dog, just to have a fancy looking all white gsd. Doing so could cause very serious problems. Love your dog as it is. She'll never ask you to change how you look for her.
Hi! commenting because I have an all white German Shepherd too. Like the others said WGSD will always tend to have some cream in them, some are more creamy, some are more white. Your baby has more cream where her hackles stand probably which is common. When I first got mine she had a little cream spot on her head and the Breeder flat out told me that this is common. She even has some cream freckles speckling her nose, I think its cute and totally unique.
Now though you shouldn't bleach your dog, what you can do is use a purple or blue shampoo to make their fur more white or brighter. Mane and Tail has shampoo's specifically for whitening horses. I wouldn't recommend using any human shampoo because that will dry out your dogs skin. This will allow your dogs coat to be bright like you probably want it to look but don't expect it to get rid of the cream in her coat. Another thing my trainer did for me was put a small amount of whitening detergent in a shampoo to get the same results. I also wouldn't recommend this if you have never done it before because again it can dry your dogs skin out or even cause them to have an allergic reaction.
Yep, my boy was pretty much solid white as a baby pup. But when his grown up hair came in he developed kind of a cream sadde in the same place you would see the black saddle on a black and tan. It isn't that noticeable but if you look closely, it is there. I think it is cool looking
I believe it is called biscuiting. Normal. Don't bleach your pup!
No bleaching please! On the white part of my Papillons I used Chris Christensen's White on White shampoo. No bleaching agents and no caustic chemicals. You can hurt your dog with bleaching, not worth it if you love your dog.
Sorry for not replying earlier, I rehomed my pup a while ago and was depressed for a while and now return for my new puppy. I rehomed my pup because two trainers evaluated her to be very high energy hyper personality that do not fit with my life style. I can provide 1.5 hr exercise per day, but that is not nearly enough for my previous pup as she is super high energy. I bought from a backyard breeder for cheap price as you may have guessed, that breeder told me their dogs are calm, laid-back, but protective. This time I bought from a registered breeder who bred for low energy stable white shepherds for 2x the price of my previous pup. I hope this time works out as if it doesn't I won't be getting any dogs anymore. This new pup's parents and grandparents are snow white, but if this pup turns out to have yellowish furs I will be fine as long as her temperament is as advertised as I realize that is what is the most important.
Anyway my previous pup was all vaccinated and microchipped before rehoming to a good large family who will take great care of her and have more people and time for her.
I know you know now not to bleach your pup and the yellow/cream hairs are normal. Cowboy's magic is great to use for removing dirt and stains in the white or areas of white in horse I pretty sure you can use for dogs to works great!
