So after a lot of talking (i was at the vet for 2.5 hours almost!) We decided to take the route of the hips (HD) being the primary issue here. Which would cause her to have lack of appetite, not wanting to be part of things, enjoying things she use to, being depressed essentially.. Because of the pain of the HD.
So after consideration, i decided it was time to recheck her hips (much to my pocket books dismay) I am glad i did it. Because she has gained some arthritis, and compared to the last xrays it looks worse to me (an untrained eye!) So its more cause of alarm and to take more action than before.
I cant afford both adequan shots and laser therapy, so i decided since we were going to do a laser therapy session today, we would try that first, weekly, to see how it goes. If after a bit we find it isn't really helping her than i will switch to adequan shots. She is also on herbs and supplements for her joints.
We are quite positive that this is why she is acting not herself, she also recently (last 2 days or so) will get up and let out a painful whine and its quite obvious its her hips that are bothering her. So i am thinking that potentially she was limping on a front leg because of potential over compensation because of her painful hips. She really doesn't limp or hold her back legs, its just when she gets up. Sad that it seems to have gotten worse.
Also, for whoever knows Zelda and her behavioral journey. She did not bark, growl, or anything at anyone today. She was amazing... Not at the people when we were going in, or in the lobby, at the vet, vet techs, when they were putting her under, acupuncture needles, manipulating her body a bit while she was awake, etc. She did excellent, and i couldn't be more proud of her. <3
As for the next week until i go back for a check-up and another laser therapy session, i am keeping an eye on her to see that her appetite keeps up (she ate the past 3 nights!) and that her temperature is normal, to ensure that it is not a tick disease that is also contributing to the symptoms.
I love her so much and im such a worry wort that its a bad combination, but this time im glad i am this way, because clearly her hippies are hurting. (And thank goodness for credit cards...)
Thanks for the support, advice and caring!
*Anyone know where i can get cheap Adequan anyways, my vet says she would be willing to prescribe to somewhere else, if its cheaper. So just in case the laser therapy doesn't work, i have a back up plan already to go.
