Default Home Depot just won me back! Happy happy!

I used to frequent Home Depot at least weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. However, since the whole security breach, I have been choosing Lowes over HD. Since they pretty much have the same products, at similar prices, and both offer a military discount. However, after seeing an article about dog friendly establishments on the internet, I wondered if it was true. I have never seen any dogs at any of the big box hardware stores. So, I decided, what the ****...I'll give them a call. Called Lowes and the lady said they don't allow dogs, that people bring them in, but it is not their policy. Poo, I knew it was too good to be true. So I give Home Depot a ring, and they said they DO in fact allow dogs in their store, as long as they are on a leash!! Looks like, HD will be my new go to store once again. I'm so excited, everything is more fun when I bring Zelda along! Our next project...making my daughter's Halloween costume, she wants to be WyldStyle (from the Lego Movie) lol.

Lowe's used to until they were sued. You have to check locally with the Lowe's to see if they allow it. Mine did until some asshat complained about a dog being in the store but another in a close by town allows them (and the employee was so excited when I asked! LOL)

In my experience, I could use a dog in Home Depot because it's products just are not placed in a way that I can find what I want easily. Maybe that's why they allow them?

The nearest of each here seem to allow them. My not much of a dog person friend was somewhat appauled and I can understand that. (there were quite a few dogs)

When ever we go to Home Depot I bring Hondo. I rarely ever see any other dogs in there and he loves the cool concrete floors. (Hubby takes FOREVER to make even the smallest decisions!)

We went one time to return a tool that didn't work for a specific job we purchased it for. They didn't give us a hard time on returning the tool, they were just not clear as to WHY we needed to exchange it. Hubby is a major talker so I was sitting near the Customer Service booth for a long time.

I was watching Hondo, he laid on the floor at my feet and seemed to be asleep. When he heard the whoosh of the door opening he'd barely open his eyes and look. We had the odd person come and ask to pet him. When they did, he didn't lift his head. He just allowed them to pet his highness.

I think that a Home Depot type store is much better to people socialize a dog as you don't have to deal with other folks silly dogs causing adverse reactions from your dog.

Uhhh...My Lowes lets me bring my dog. NO one has ever said I couldn't. I actually asked at customer service and they said it was fine as long as she was leashed. I haven't tried Home Depot because a google search states it is Home Depots policy to not allow dogs. Hmmm....I guess it depends on where you live and the manager of your local store.

That is why I called both before showing up. I bet if I showed up at Lowes with Zelda, they probably wouldn't kick us out, but I googled and saw that Lowes was sued this year so I wanted to be sure. I agree that a hardware store is better for socializing, that is why I am so excited. We get tired of going to Petsmart, Petco, and Tractor Supply. She is doing a lot better leash walking, so I think it will be fun. Also, not as any fun distractions like other dogs, treats, and fun toys. Although I am not sure I want anyone trying to pet her just yet .

I emailed our local Bass Pro Shop and asked the manager for permission to bring my dog (my Lacy) in. I needed to fit him with a tracking harness. The manager replied and gave me permission. I printed it out and carried it with me. No body stopped us while we were at the store.

My error was it was during Christmas and I pretty much pushed him (at the time) to his threshold. Many people with poking hands, it was difficult for me to keep him from getting nervous and he tried to pee twice.

Once we got to the hunting department, I sat on the floor with him and played with one of the retrieval toys they had there until he got his feet back under him. He was fine after that, even aced the glass elevator!

this is a case of one jerk ruining it for the rest of us!
and i dont know how lowes is responsible for trying to appease dog owners!?

so people wont shop there because they want to protect their customers plus their own behinds
how is this their fault ? why refuse to shop there if you cant bring your dog ?
you are punishing them for trying to do the right thing
they could not have forseen this attack!

Our Home Depot does not allow pets. They allow service dogs (of course) and they used to allow therapy dogs in training (with a specific group/class outings), but I don't think the therapy group uses their store anymore.

Thanks for posting the link, hadn't seen this before. Can't believe someone taking their dog, with prior aggressive incidents, out in public like that, poor kid, 50 stitches???, I've had plenty, but even combined not that many.
