Default Very happy post :)

My 18 month old German Shepherd Axel has had a pretty hard time in the last few months. It all started in December (aged 11 moths) when a man aggressively handled him right in front of me after asking could he pet him (he put one arm across his chest and the other under his stomach which caused Axel to panic, I told him to let go and he said where just playing). After that he barked at a young child who was skiping towards us while at his obedience class. He was extremely terrified of men, especially men with hats or glasses. Then in January (aged 1 year) I found out he had a benign tumor in his head and would need to have it removed. In March (aged 14 months) I found a lump on his front leg which turned out to be a cyst and was causing him a lot of discomfort. Then in June (aged 17 months) he began limping on both his back legs and I was told that he has extremely tight hips but he will begin treatment this week.

Now to the happy part. In the past few weeks I have started taking Axel to a socialization class. His behavior has improved immensely. He has no problem meeting new people. He enjoy a little rub from other dog owners (although he would rather just play with their dogs). His health has improved so much. He gets to play with his friends again because I have no fear that he is going to bark at their owners. He gets to watch his big sister Nala (the collie) at her agility class. He has a new baby brother Simba (the sheltie) who he absolutely adores, they are seriously stuck together like glue.

Overall he is just a happier healthier dog which makes me so happy. I'mso happy to have my happy, clumsy, goofy little baby back

That is a rough start, glad he is doing much better. Like the puppy pillow picture!

I agree with Nigel - the puppy pillow picture is my favorite. So happy that Axel had made a complete turnaround and the socialization classes really helped him. I am sure he was an A+ student
