wet dog help
anyone have an excellent blower for your dog?

We have a pool and wet dogs... not a good combo in Louisiana where damp dogs can be prone to yeast infections.

Anyone have recommendations?

I was looking to buy this one...From what I remember the folks here recommended it.

That is the one I have. It won't get the coat 100% dry but it does a very decent job. It is also great for blowing out hair and dirt.

The metro is not a hot air blower - it does get warm though just from the heat of the motor. Of course I would not want to use a hot air blower on a dog just because irritating the skin could set them up as well.

We have high humidity and hot summers here in SC as well. Past week has been averaging about 80% humidity. More than the dryer, keeping the undercoat raked out is VERY beneficial. I don't dry Beau every thime he gets wet, and he is in his kiddy pool a lot.

I have a Metro I won at a raffle, I believe it's the $99 one. It's OK. The dryer I use at the pet store is probably 3 times more powerful. It takes me nearly an hour to get one dog acceptably dry with my metro. Nikon needs to be groomed, he was dock diving all weekend at the UKC Premier event and now he smells like musty cheese, lol.

Thanks all,

Liesje, what do you use at the pet store?

kayek9 06-19-2014 04:58 PM my K9 II dryer!! I've had it for many, many years, works just as good now as when I bought it. I started out with the Air Force Commander 20+ years ago, I still have it, but only use it on baby puppies. It doesn't have the force of the K9 II. I can dry a dog completely in under 15 minutes.

I have a Chris Christensen Kool Dry dryer. Variable speed, so I can dial it down to do faces without a fight, and dial it up to blast the water off. I use it to groom the dogs for shows, and the flat diffuser nozzle has made a world of difference on getting them dry fast.

I have this one and I love it. Gave 6 dogs a bath and completely dried them within 3 hours.

The K9III was recommended by a member here who is a groomer.

Worth every single penny. We use it every day. Freshens the coat, gets rid of loose hair, dust and dander.
it is very noisy. And it took a while for Hans to get used to it, but lately he likes it and will sometimes request it, LOL.

I haven't price-checked lately, but those little orange Metro dryers give a lot of bang for the buck. No heating element, but the motor does warm the air as it blows through. K-9 dryers are also great. They are LOUD, so be prepared for that. Buy the most powerful dryer you can afford, and you'll never regret it. The more powerful the force dryer, the better it can get through the thick parts, drying the dog faster and blasting out dead undercoat as it does. Check, they usually have the best prices.

Here ya go...
