behavior in hot weather

Hey, recently got a GSD(6months old) and it is my first dog , there are many things which I don't know about this breed, and I was just wondering what is typical behavior in hot days?
Mine became lazy when we are at home , panting without any exercise, runny nose. He isn't skipping meals, drinks plenty of water and when we go outside his laziness suddenly dissapears like he was just resting at home. So I am confused is it normal for GSDs during hot weather or he might be sick?

My boy gets really hot really fast as he has a large saddle. He also gets lazy and panty, but i can't blame him when it's hot. I take a bottle of water out with me so he can have a drink, and also hug the trees so we stay in the shade.

I live in a tropical country where the temps can be above 30C most of the day. After a while the dogs will acclimatise. They will drink more water when they need to so just make sure there is sufficient water around.

Long coats will suffer a little more though.

Sounds pretty normal, not sure about the runny nose, one of mine had this too the other day, maybe a bit of allergies? Depending on where your located, they need to adjust to the change in temps, mine definitely prefer cooler weather. We had our first 80 degree day and it took a notch out of them, our game of fetch was short lived and they were heading for the tree line.

My 2 hate the sun and will avoid it especially during the summer, they can't take exercise for too long in the hot humid Sydney weather and will pant a lot and also rest more. I ended up buying a cooling vest which helped them a lot, but they still avoided the sun.
