Did anyone else get your GSD with a tatto identification?

No, Delgado was microchipped by the breeder rather than a tattoo. She offered to do the tattoo for me after I had brought him home but it would be a 2 hour+ road trip and I didn't feel it was worth it in the end

Personally, I'd prefer both to be done.

Indie came with a tattoo in her right ear. She's not to fond of me poking around in her ears - I really can't read it. I had her chipped for identification purposes. I think in our case the tattoo is more of keeping with tradition - same as her registered name have to start with the same letter as the litter designation.

Ranger came tattooed.

I had Nikon clamp-tattooed when he was 14 weeks because the tat was required identification. Now a microchip is also acceptable and becoming more popular. I always microchip my dogs but if they are tattooed as a puppy, that's fine too.

Neither of my dogs came with ear tattoos, I just microchip.

Thanks for all the input, I also got my pup already tattooed not yet microchipped

My pup was tattooed before I brought him home. I'm still waiting to have him chipped because my vet likes to sedate to do it (I dunno why he can't just do a local type shot) and I don't want sedate him unnecessarily. Maybe when I have him x-rayed.

My Clumber spaniel I got from a Hungarian breeder was tattooed....she didn't want to do a chip due to us living in Germany and them moving back to the states it may have been no use outside of Hungary. It is required by the kennel club there that all puppies exported to by either microchipped or tattooed.

I asked my vet to tattoo and microchip my guy but they said they don't do tattoo's. so microchip only it is. they seemed to feel that tattoos are outdated, I didn't know that
