Long drive with dog, SUV or Sedan?

I am driving from DC to Boca Raton, FL (1000 miles) in March.

I have two options, 1 my wives older Rav 4 - which has seen better days (it is mechanically sound, not worried about it breaking down) or my 2yo BMW 3 series sedan.

Obviously, the 3 series is much more comfortable to drive, especially 1000 miles.

But, obviously, a nice big crate is out of the question.

Are there any options for taking her in the sedan or am I crazy for even pondering it (ie: go with the SUV)

Why do you need a crate? Go with the better car.

She just always travels in it - of course never this long of a trip!

if your dog is car comfortable take the Beamer. stop often
to give the dog a break. include breaks in your travel time.
allow for a lot of breaks.

i have a hammock in the back of my car. my car is to small
for a crate.
