Winter exercise?

Winter in Indiana has been terrible this year. We have received more snow this winter that I think we have in the last 10 years. Wind chills are in the negative double digits making it dangerous to be outside.

Are there any indoor exercises that you guys can recommend on days that we are unable to get outside? He's 8 months old so you can imagine how awful it is to keep him inside all day 😬

I have a pup who isn't fully vaccinated yet, so I'm going through the same thing. We're doing a lot of mental games... new tricks, refining commands, foundations for obedience and agility, crate games, and lots of bully sticks/raw marrow bones. XD

Teach him something new! My border collie learned how to hold different items in his mouth when we were cooped up (snowed in) for 3 days straight.

Fellow Hoosier here...
Yes, the weather has been terrible this year. Hans & I played in the snow this morning @ 9 lovely degrees. We were actually out for about 30 minutes the first time and by the time we were ready to go out again the wind had picked up. We didn't stay out nearly as long the second time. :)

Silly dog was rolling around on his back in the snow. His version of snow angels I guess. I was so bundled up that only my eyeballs were visible. :D

The rest of the day was spent in the garage playing tug and he has a puzzle ball that he works on till he gets the treats to come out. I gave him a raw marrow bone to work on and that kept him relatively happy for about 40 minutes.

You have my sympathy. Mine is an adult. I can only imagine the puppy energy!

We are goof balls in my house. Hide-n-seek...a family member hides & a Rusty is released to find them. He loves it. We also hide random objects or treats for him to find:)

Also a long hallway is great for working on heel.

Work on rear end awareness and core strength exercises. Teach scent discrimination with ball jar rings.

How do you start to teach this workout?

We use puzzles, hide and seek, tracking inside, treats hidden and obedience commands.

We do perchwork regularly but asked for the rear feet on it and then do ups(baited with canned squirt cheese)
Peanut is from fitpaws(I have the 70cm, but could have gone with the 80 with my larger male) and again that canned cheese is like crack! Start on a wall and then move it out once the dog is comfortable on it and can balance when you move it some. Nails need to be kept short for this.

I swear I'm buying canned cheese this weekend for Russ. Very clever:)
