Question do any of your dogs go through your things?

Like if u go shopping and come home with a bunch of bags, put them on the ground

Does any of your dogs go through your things to see if there is anything for them? If there is they know right away and take it out?

Mine has started to do this like if i go grocery shopping and am loading the bags in the house she will go through them to see if there is anything for her, and she knows exactly what is for her.

Our pup has done this from the first time. Very odd. My wife unloaded the groceries in the kitchen, then let him out of the crate. He came in the kitchen and stopped in wonder like Santa had came. He started going through bags as my wife watched him. He found a stuffed animal and immediately started pulling it out of the bag. He didn't mess with any of the grocery items other than sniffing. A good mental exercise.

Not trying to give them too much credit but they just seem to know.

My wife has told me in the past that the dogs start getting restless and watching out the windows a few minutes before I pull in the driveway. I don't come home at the same time every day but they have been pretty consistant with it. Now explain that one. I'm curious to see if the new pup does this when he gets older since he has no older dogs to teach him this behavior.

Absolutely, but if there's a bag from the petstore he zeros in on it alone and is investigating.

I bought a bunch of toys for Christmas, I put the bag on the kitchen counter while unloading the bags and he sat in front of the counter staring at the bag. When I was done he kept running to me then to the bag, then back to me obviously wanting the toys so I had to put them away in the cupboard until Christmas came. He knew where they were and any time that cupboard was opened he was there in flash to see if I would give them to him yet.

When it finally came time I opened the cupboard and he was there and I gave him one toy and he was like "OH BOY A NEW TOY!!!" and ran around the house then I called him back for the second toy, then the third, etc I kept calling him back and with each toy he just got more and more excited. I was going to hold off and give one toy a week but I couldn't resist and gave them all at once. He was truly a kid on Christmas morning with his new pile of toys and antlers

Yep. All my shepherds have. I've had them dip thier heads in every bag that come through the door.

My cat also does this. When we have a female visitor, we have to warn her about the cat. He will start digging through purses. He's obsessed with it. Shove him out and he comes right back. Crazy cats. Oh and backpacks are the bomb! So many pockets!

mine do sometimes.

My male gsd Dodge, when he was a big snooper, I'll never forget going to dog shows, sitting around, and he'd be sticking his nose into OTHER peoples, bags! Kinda embarrassing, one time someone asked me if he was a pick pocket

OMG, mine do this and it drives me crazy. I literally am trying to walk through my tiny entryway with Sage's head dipped in a bag every time I'm carrying one.

All the time I think their motto is "no bag left untouched" Tyson even smashes thru the bathroom door to stick his head thru the shower curtain, he checks out the shampoo while he is at it. They even make a point out of wiping their noses all over any type of drink we get at a drive thru.
