I saw a couple of them at a herding instinct test, at a show, earlier this year. I know nothing about them, but they really caught my eye. They seemed to be pretty unperturbed with all the goings-on at the show. I'd like to know more about them myself.

I have friends with one and it's a great dog. Surprising like our GSD but looks a bit different.

Yes. It was the movie "Because of Winn-Dixie".

I've read about them, but never met one.

Obviously, like in our own breed, there are probably differences from one dog to the next. We had one come to our PK class (it was right at the age limit). Dog had no desire to work with its people. Very disconnected. Was a total butt head around the other puppies. No food or drive for toys. It was so un-shepherd like that I can understand why they are a rare breed. Not a breed that peaked my interest at all.

Go to any large UKC event and you can see them in various sizes and colors. They are a UKC breed. At the annual Premier I often see a dozen or more walking around. They're really the only breed with that coat type that has ever piqued my interest.
