It really depends. I know when I bring PUPS home, they sleep in their crate downstairs because we want them to learn they're fine being away from us early on. Also because my husband has to be awake early and he's cranky without enough sleep so pups downstairs helps him sleep. However, after a point, the pup is moved to a crate in our room at night. I think with all the changes in your life, its really up to you. It might help your dog calm down and relax if he's crated in your room with you at night but at the same time, it might also give him a reminder that you make the rules, you've got everything covered, etc if he sleeps in the nook for a while. You know your dog so it's really what you think would work best to get back on track.
All else fails, try one for a little while and if that doesn't work, change it.
