Well I was wondering, would you be confident that your dog will protect your property while you're away?
Today I forgot that the electrician was coming over to connect something so I didn't lock the dogs in the kennel. When I checked my phone at lunch I had 3 missed calls all asking me to call back ASAP - so I called and he says "never mind we're in the yard now, we just weren't sure if the dogs were friendly but they are fine" Don't know if I'm disappointed or relieved they managed to get into the yard (I would have had to Kay another huge fee had they not been able to complete the work) My dogs are useless watchdogs they also let the appliance repair man come straight in one day, someone knocked on the door and when I opened there's a total stranger and his apprentice scratching the mastiffs belly and throwing the GSDs ball :/ LoL oh well they are awesome dogs anyway Would yours let people in? Zeeva would bark bark and bark but once they got close enough shed probably cower and hide. Smokey would help burglars take the valuables out especially if given a treat. But I hope I never find out for sure what would happen...
I never let people in without prior notice and proper confinement of my pups.

Bianca would bark at the door/fence even if it was someone she knew. No one was brave enough to try to come in with her barking at them, they waited for me to open it and get her to back off.
So I don't know what she would have done if someone actually came in without permission, if she would have just kept barking (I think that at least) or if she'd have done anything further than that. |

My guy would definetly try his best to stop anyone he didn't know, esp. if they acted the least bit hesitant - the folks he knows, I am not real sure with a few of them.
He would not back off - eithr very defensive or very friendly! |

My dog methos (mee-thos), stopped a burglar twice. I was sitting on my bed one night and all of a sudden he jumped off the bed barking. When I looked up there was a person about to come in through my window, needless to say he ran off. He caught someone trying to break into my neighbor's car. Once when we were selling our house, the realtor didn't know we were home and opened the front door only to find my German Shepherd charging at him. The best thing about him is that he knows the difference between when someone is invited in and when they try to come in on their own. He is perfectly friendly and polite when someone is invited in.

I had my Max running loose in the back field recently and we headed back to the house, (he was way ahead of me). I could not see him, but heard his "big boy bark" and hurried up to see what was going on. There was some guy out of his truck just standing there. Max kept barking, I walked up to Max and said "ok", and he quieted down.
Then I apologized and the guy said " oh thats ok..I was a K9 handler in the service! Your dog did a good job keeping me at bay" ..lol As soon as he spoke Max walked right up to him and said "Hi!" (turns out the workman was a line locator) So, yes, Max would keep people away, for sure! And he is actually kind of scary looking anyway!

My dogs do protect the property. I have to crate them when service workers come into the house. Kacie has dirty bitten before so I know she'd do it again. Onyx may do the same, but she would nail a women before she'd bite a guy unless the guy was threatening her. Karlo would probably just show presence, but allow someone in. If they showed they were a threat, game on.

Not a chance. Lot's of strange people coming and going in my house due to roommates. Athena would probably just follow the person around and watch them out of curiosity. I don't mind though. I didn't get her as a watch dog or an attack dog or any sort of protection really. I got her as a companion. I'd rather she be over-friendly with a burglar than any sort of aggressive with a friend.

I think yes. Jazzy is very protective and Delgado would back her up without hesitation, between the two I highly doubt anyone with bad intent would want to be within 5' of my house without me there
Delgado's stare alone is enough to unnerve most people I so love owning a GSD
