Question will your cat sometimes beat on working dog?

My dog loves to preen my cat. Shes very dominant it seems towards other dogs. Sometimes usually on my bed the cat is allowed on my bed my dog is NOT allowed on my bed ever. Shes 3. Sometimes she will preen my cat my cat will have enough of and just howl and wack the crap out of her. I will hear a ripping noise sounds like the tearing of skin. My dog does not have much of a reaction usually she will back down.

Yesterday she didn't back down and kept trying to preen the cat even after getting the crap wacked out of her. I made her stop though. And she came to me wanting attention then.

ANyone here experience anything the same? My cat has a NASTY temper. To me also. Shes a rescue farm cat and is like 7 years old now. I found her as a kitten when they were clearing out a barn.

By preening i mean licking and just cleaning the cat. My dog wants to do this a lot for some reason like the cat is her "pup" The cat just lashes out at her out of the blue sometimes. When the cat does this it is scary lol But my cat will sit at the end of my bed that is the spot where my dog has access to her? So its wierd.

Cats are bizarre creatures. My cat stalks and harrasses my old dog and he just lets her. I keep telling him to not let her get away with that, but he was raised with a Siamese cat and has a healthy respect for felines as a consequence.

My cat is easily overstimulated so prolonged petting (or in this case grooming) can sometimes become uncomfortable or even painful, so while the cat might not mind it for a bit, it may become uncomfortable after a while. Or she may decide she's not in the mood any more ... or that dogs stink .. or any of the myriad things that cats think.

The set of cats we have now love Finn. I've posted pictures of them sleeping/climbing on him and he could care less. We did have a cat who stalked him as a puppy. She would tear him up if we weren't careful. He still has scars across his nose from her. She would walk up to him when he was asleep and just bat the crap out of his face.

Mollie only stopped the outright unprovoked attacks when Finn pinned her. I thought he was going to kill her, but he just flopped on her. After that, if he walked near her, she would go after him, but if not, she'd leave him alone.
