I need HELP..... please!!!!
 

Okay, so did I sound desperate enough? ;)

Stark is on crate rest - leashed walks to potty and back into the x-pen - for another 4 days. We were told 2 weeks crate/x-pen and then restricted activity for another 2 weeks after that.

He is going bonkers... poor guy. My dogs get about 2 hours of off-lead time per day, plus walks so being in this x-pen for almost 2 weeks straight is making him crazy.

He is not a food or toy dog AT ALL so he is ignoring his bones, antlers, kongs, and other interactive toys. I have put the cats in there with him to keep him company, sat on his bed with him, brushed him, groomed him, played the touch game, nose work, and anything else I can think of to keep him entertained.. I let him sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by, etc.. but need some more ideas.

Please.. for both our sanity.. give me some more ideas I can do to help keep Stark from going bonkers! ;)

How about car rides where he can stick his head out the window? I hope he feels better soon.

Can he do any type of on leash obedience work? Just to have him thinking,but also restricted.

He broke his toe and pulled a muscle in his leg/thigh area.. so the vet doesn't want him doing "too" much.

I have been allowing him to roam the house a few hours per day but not sure if the motions of doing some obedience would be okay.. especially if it was repetitive?

Maybe do a bit of trick training. Seated tricks like High Fives, Paw, Face rub, stuff like that? I'm trying to think of a way to keep his brain going...

Can you tether him to you when you're in the house and not too busy?

Poor guy! Is it feasible to ask your vet for something that would make him sleepy?

How about an interactive toy? He can lay down and do that....he might want to stand at first but he can do it laying down.

When Tessa broke her leg I did training with her laying down, I made a thread here and got lots of suggestions so I'll look it up.

I also took her to Petsmart and pushed her around in the cart. A lot of people looked at me like I was insane, I don't think they noticed the cast on her lol. But she had a blast getting petted by people and would calmly sit watching while I trained Emma.
