I was walking to my car to put Gus in back when a Pit Bull came from behind my house and charged him. Gus was on a leash because I know how to control my dog, but the pit lunged and grabbed onto Guys and they went at it. 2 neighbors were outside but they just ignored what was going on. I tried really hard to keep my cool but it was really difficult. My fiance finally ran over and broke the dogs up.
Out of anger I yelled down the street to a guy standing there and said "Excuse me sir, do you know who this censor dog belongs to" and he started yelling back at me and I tried to apologize for cursing but he was just going in and on. I'm afraid all the time and work I've put into Gus with him being reactive is going to all go out the window..and possibly intensify. I'm really glad Gus is unhurt. But that other dog owner is going to get a word from me, and if it happens again. I will take ALL measures to make sure Gus and myself are protected. Sorry that was so long. I just needed to let it out

same crap happened to me, i was walking to my car with my dog on leash and 2 labs jumped out one ran straight for me like a tigress and jumped at my dogs face and attacked, my dog counter attacked and flipped the lab over on her back and rolled her and made her scream in a split second and she ran off. I was in shock and didn't say a word. And walked to my car and got in.
Just life sucks sometimes. This happened a few days ago it has not changed my dogs personality or anything. But it makes me sick that stuff like this goes on. People are so stupid. The lab is lucky it rolled away. Did gus bite the other dog? IM not sure if mine did but the lab screamed really loud. Just such a shock I could not believe that it just be lined towards us like that. Last edited by pets4life; 02-28-2013 at 07:44 PM. |

It's a miracle he's unhurt! That must have been horrifying. We have a lab and a pit that have SSA that have to be kept apart at all times or there WILL be a fight.... The lab starts it and of course gets the short end of the stick....
Honestly, I would not hesitate to kill another dog if it meant protecting my own. I'm glad everyone was okay. Good luck to you and Gus, and keeping my fingers crossed for you that didn't make all of the reaction training you've been doing with him moot.

Brutal! I hope Gus is OK. I really don't know if I could contain myself in that situation.

why was the pits owner fighting with you though? like what did he blame you for? ITs just that your dog was attacked and he was mouthing off at you?
I did not say a word to the owner i was in shock and his stupid dog got a harsh correction already, he did not say anything either though. Not even sorry. Funny thing is this was near a highway!! HOw dangerous is that. Last edited by pets4life; 02-28-2013 at 07:55 PM. |

I don't think it was the other dog's owner she yelled at and that yelled back, just a bystander.
Though I can understand 100% why both sides acted the way they did. You were scared, adrenaline pumping. They weren't his dogs, he didn't want to jump in and risk getting bitten splitting them up. He gets yelled at, retaliates. I get it, though. I get it, completely.

if it is a big dog victimizing a small dog EVERYONE will jump in to help
IF its 2 aggressive type of dogs fighting like a gsd and rottie or pit and gsd or rottie and pit, or gsd and gsd. NO ONE will help out ever, ive noticed that. They will pretend nothing is going on. When 2 gsds were fighting once i heard someone say "well hopefully they will both just end each other." |
