you want something that takes time, not a gulp. My pups fave has been a 5 dollar dehydrated ostrich esophagus. It really doesnt last long, but as a super treat that would be top on my list. Or if you just want to make her happy for 3 seconds- GREEN TRIPE

Tripe, Freeze dried liver, or a dairy queen little cone. We used to take our dogs to DQ for their birthdays and get them each a small vanilla cone. The blissful licking and the surprise that such an oddity was their own--plus we had to hold it for them-- made it a special occasion.

If you have any doggie speciality stores near you, you can see if they have doggie cakes. Its made for dogs and they love it.

Hahaha! Glad to see I'm not the only one who feeds my dog junk food.
Liesl loves a couple of tablespoons of vanilla ice cream. I swear, the look she gives me when she has licked all of the ice cream plus the first layer of paper off of the paper plate is pure "So--you been holdin' out on me, eh??" Obviously, this is too rich for anything more than just a special occasion, but they love it.

Fiona loves ice cream or frozen yogurt. A friend told me about making frosty paws. Mix banana, peanut butter, yogurt in a blender. Then pour into ice cube trays. I think he might also put avocado in it, because he has a tree.

I've made my dogs a cake before for their birthdays.
Raw knuckle bone is a good choice, my dogs always loved those. , I was goong to suggest something raw as that was always my dogs' favorite. I try not to give it too often though as they were wearing down my GSD's teeth. I have also given a little bit of an ice cream cone, a piece of fast food burger or donut as a very special occasional treat. Yeah it's junk food, but they go crazy for it and its a very rare thing. |

My local organic/natural/healthy dog store offers dog specific ice cream, which I think is dairy free for them. Its usually with the raw foods in the freezer. They also offer "smart pup" treats which just look like small cups of pudding or yogurt or something.
But if it is a special occasion, and your dog doesnt have any allergies, Id go a buy something totally junk foody that wasnt toxic lol.
