Default Are they serious?!?

Ok so we dont really have any fully fenced areas any where near where I am, and there is no dog park either, and the nearest dog park is 2 and a bit hours away. And its frustrating trying to find somewhere to take my puppy to socialize with other dogs. There is one dog park that opened last spring that is about 20mins from me, want to know what the kicker is?

You have to PAY $49.99 PLUS tax EVERY month to use it!!! That is outrageous! I will not pay almost $60 a month to utilize a dog park that should be FREE! Not to mention I would probably only use it maybe 4 times a month! Ugg its so frustrating living in a welfare province! I cant wait till I move back to Ontario where there are dog parks everywhere and you dont need to PAY to use them! So sick of this hick town GRRR... Sorry for the rant but what they are charging people to use this dog park is down right disgusting!

Have you checked to see what they offer for that price?

There are benefits to free dog parks and not for sure. I would pay a bit (say $20 a month) if I had access to a great private park.

The only two benefits about this park is that all dogs who go there are screened before hand to make sure they are not aggressive towards other dogs or people, are UTD with shots and are S/N, and there are a few agility obstacles you can use while you are there, but I dont think that equates to $60 (with taxes in) a month

EXACTLY.. I would have no problem paying between $15 and $30 for its use as I love the fact that not just any dog can go in there but no way will I pay $60 for that

Sounds like a lot of money but not sure why a dog park should be "free". There is probably a lot of cleaning and fencing and poo pickup as well as equipment etc. and it sounds like administrative controls etc.

The two main dog parks in Ottawa are run by the NCC (National Capital Commission) which falls under the Government of Canada. They are large partially fenced free to the public parks, basically "use at your own risk" types. There's no one checking vaccinations records or licenses at the gate. There's certainally no temperament testing either

I personally have never had major problems, most owners are responsible but I quit because it was getting to be a little too crazy with the business of the parks.

As much as I like free things, I would pay if there was somewhere nearby where it was totally fenced and quieter.

I like the set up and would be willing to pay for it, but not 60$ worth, lol. Sorry they are doing that to you.
