What do you think he was?

This was my first dog I adopted from the local HS when I was just barely 21. (don't laugh at the pics, plz.

) The vets always told me he was a shepherd/malamute mix. Think so? I'm just curious and bored on a sunday. He acted much more like a GSD but I don't see much of that in him except for maybe the muzzle and the ears. I have some other pictures I could scan in, they're just not already ON the computer. Anyhow, just wondering what people might think.

He ended up standing about 28-29" (I can't remember exactly unfortunately) at withers and his weight was about 125-127, although he was free-fed (never an issue until the last year or so, and he really was about 5-7lbs overweight).

Here are some old pics: In the collage, you can kind of see in the bottom one where he's standing in the yard that he was a bit heavy, but hey....he was just getting diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 9 1/2 and he was starting EILIF.

I think the vet was right.

The hair...oh the hair...what WERE we thinking in the 80s and 90s? Did you have blue eye shadow on too? LOL

That stupid hair was not permed, either. Thank GOD they developed products to control it.

I did have some aqua eyeshadow from Aziza but had discontinued wearing it by then....LOL

Do you think he really had GSD in there?

I see malamute, I'm not sure on anything else.

You think? I see it in the coat color, but IMO that's where the resemblance ends. His body shape wasn't right and definitely not the tail. Or his face, really. I wish the pics of him younger where he wasn't overweight were on here. That really shows that he didn't have malamute body. Maybe that's where the GSD came in.

Yup! Probably Mal or Husky , maybe not so much mix, any thing with a mask gets called shepherd. I like the 80's hair, but that just from an old rocker, jig the Mustang? too.

FWIW, on a rainy day, my hair still looks like that, heh.

What throws me off is he was really too tall to be either mal or husky. He really was a very large dog. Maybe I'll try to find the skinnier pics of him.
