Default 4 gsds

I think this has been discussed before but anyway.... I have 3 gsds- 18 months 30 months males and 6.5 year old female and am contemplating getting a 4th- a female pup- I am retired so have lots of time to spend with the dogs- I find each dog so very different and unique. They are all highly trained and easy to handle for me. There is some friction with the males once and awhile.
Want to get another WL as I find them easier to train and maybe smarter.
I do think I am a little crazy but this is not a dress rehearsal.
What do you think.

Wow...I envy you, and pity anyone trying to break in. I can see 3 or 4 when i retire in a few short years. I say go for it. You can handle them & take care of them, why not ?

hope your in Florida right now, cause it's not real nice here in CT)

At one point I had 3 males and one female, and have to say it was pretty easy. With the female I had, I would never have gotten another female at that time, she was a witch with a capital B when it came to ruling the roost

I did get a female aussie who was a marshmellow, the female gsd was 'ok' with her, but was always making sure that aussie stayed in line..

Now the female gsd I have now, never would have had the "two" female gsd's at one time, there would have been problems I believe , altho this one gets along fine with my female aussie..

Ok I'm rambling,,me personally, no way will I do two pushy females , and I have found the female gsd's I've had/have can be PUSHY...I never had any problems with 3 males, just found them easier..

But hey, if you think you can handle it, I say go for it) Good luck

I live by myself, and in 2 days will have 3 dogs - 2 GSD and 1 rat terrier. When I retire I have always planned on multiples - if not sooner! Once my rat terrier has passed I can easily see me with 3 GSD's, why not 4?! Seriously though, if you have the time and PATIENCE, and you obviously take the commitment of pet ownership seriously, I would do it.

Like you said - this is not a dress rehearsal! ( I read the book too!)

I've got a male and a female GSD and a male and a female lab. Just got the little female. She is a hoot and really completed the family.

I know I'm putting human emotions onto dogs.... But I was an only child and it sucked! So I made sure I had two kids and for the most part I always have more than one dog. When my Shadow boy died we were down to just one dog and Buddy was very very depressed. Now we are back up to 4 and Buddy is once again a very happy camper.

If you can take care of them, why not? I think dogs love having other dogs around. They are pack animals.
