Default How did you choose your GSD`s name ?

When we first brought Zola home,we didnt even have a name for her,we picked a few but none seemed to fit, then I came up with a bright idea of looking at our last GSD`s , Sapphire. family tree, looking at all the dams and picking one,,Zola was Sapphires great gran mothers name...I suppose it was a great way of keeping Sapphires memory alive So how did you come to pick your names

It was a L litter so I chose Loker who is my favourite character from the TV show Lie to Me
Me

Delgado was a suggestion from one of my coworkers, it's the name of the GSD from Beverly Hills Chihuahua

Von Stalworth is obviously the kennel name

Jasmine, my rottie girl, is named after my first doggie love...a doberman that belonged to a friend of the family who lived with us for a while.

Finnick is named after a character in the Hunger Games Trilogy. The character, Finnick Odair, was a young champion known for his masculinity, good looks and great loyalty.

I played on the name a little making it Finnick O'Dare.

Juno was named because we just like the name and when we were listing off names to her as a puppy, that's the one she would respond to.

Bowser was named because we are all fans of Super Mario Brothers and because he looked like a Bowser.

Registered Name: Lynx vom Lytle ( we got to pick an Alaskan name )
My son named her Ironhide after his second favorite transformer. He had originally wanted to name the pup Bumblebee, I vetoed that name and asked him to pick another one. We were on the waiting list for a male, of the three litters born, we had picked the "L" litter because of the temperaments that would come out of the litter, when only girls were born, I decided to stick with the litter and take a girl. BEST decision I have made in my life....my son didn't want to pick a girl name, so she was named Ironhide anyway.

Registered name: Wales vom Lytle ( Another Alaskan name, but I didn't pick it)
He was a hold back, the breeder was initially going to keep him, but said that if I wanted him they would give him up. I initially just called him Wales, as that is what they had used as a call name. But he was SO goofy, and the name seemed to make him more so. My training partners and I sat around throwing names back and forth, until we decided Gladiator was more than suiting his no hold back, intense, take things out temperament. That name TOTALLY suits this dog!

Hans was from the N litter, and we got him from north of us, so we chose Norden because it means North in German.

His call name is what we always wanted to name our German Shepherd, long before we got one. Good German name, and it sounds like a bark.

Zeus: Because the name means (Greek) supreme leader, the most powerful one.
I plan to name any future pups after greek gods/goddess. My next male wouldl be "Poseidon", a female would be "Athena".

Well her registered name is Orithia Z Diehlomov - she was the O litter and Orithia was an Amazon queen.

Her call name is Milla after Milla Jovovich the actress. I wanted a strong female name for her.

Phinneas was a character in one of my favorite books.

Kya means little love and she is my heart and soul.

Wolfie's full name is Wolfgang Heinrich Von Ryan
I was watching a biography on Van Halen, and Eddie Van Halen's son is named Wolfgang. I like German names for German Shepherds so I loved Wolfgang when I heard the name.
My Hubby likes Heinrich and wanted to name him that, but I brought it to his attention that Heinrich will be shortened to Hiney. I said calling out Come Wolfie, is better than calling out Come Hiney! LOL! So Heinrich ended up being his middle name.
The last name is the breeder name.
