I actually believe most dogs would be happier living in close quarters with their owners. The dog/owner relationship would benefit by the owner being "forced" to regularly interact with their dog. You can't just stick him out back and forget him. My mother is 78 and lives in a one bedroom condo with a very energetic Queensland Heeler. I am grateful to Penny "making" my mom get out and walk everyday. I don't know what my mom would do without her.

Wow! Look at all the comments I've missed in the last few days. Thanks y'all.

We definitely have a plan to get him out and about, though I'm sure he'd require much more activity than our cocker does. As far as a GSD testing their boundaries go, I'm glad we've gotten a heads up on that.

Hopefully, in a couple years we'll have a home of our own. The way things are going we could be settling into a brand new house with a brand new GSD pup all at the same time. But even if the timing ends up being a little off, it's good to know I'm not as crazy as my family would like to think that I am.

a GSD can live well in an apartment. a house or an apartment
serves a dog the sameway it serves it's humans. any dog can
be a bully. that's not breed specific. with training and socializing
your dog is going to be fine and you're going to fine with having
him.
