When I took "classes" with my dog it was $80 for 6 weeks (1hr once a week but we could come early/stay later and practice if we wanted) but I got a deal from the owner, I think it's normally $100. My favorite trainer was $35/hr.
Now I'm paying $30 per quarter in flyball club dues plus $5 per training session (6:30-9:30) and $300/yr for Schutzhund club dues. I don't pay directly to a trainer or helper. |

Before I became an apprentice trainer, I paid $1800/year for training, which was for 3-5 hours a week, every week, for the year of group classes. And I could choose what I took and when I took it.
Private lessons through the school are $65/hr, and the group classes work out to $25-$30/class lesson, with the price going down with memberships. IE: 30 classes/year = $50/month = $20/class 120 classes a year = $150/month $15/class |

The going rate here is $115-130 per 6 week course. I've never hired a private trainer but I think most around here are about $100 per session. If you bring in a certified behaviourist from out of town it will cost you about $400 for one session which you will be told exactly why the dog is doing what it's doing, and a recomendation how it might be fixed. I wish classes were cheaper, I love running the dogs in classes.

Think it depends on your needs. We just completed a 5 week in house of extensive training both advanced obedience and aggression. Cost us $1700. but part of that was for an e-collar (about 280). The results were outstanding and we continue to work with her (our dog) to ingrain what she and us learned.

Ouch, I am glad I'm over here in Germany working on becoming a dog trainer. My €2000 gets me a two year apprenticeship and all of my dogs training for free. When I'm not at my phone in bed I'll have to check the price listing for classes. But it seems to me like we've got it good price wise at my facility.

For private lessons I pay $30 and it is about 2 hours of training.
We work on whatever I need that given week and so far I have gotten my moneys worth. My instructor has helped me with retrieves, send out, directionals, e-collar and we also dabble/play w/ agility equipment so some of that time is 'recess' for my dog. I'm allowed to use the instructors training barn on a drop in basis as well. In Winter time that is a huge bonus! I am in an IPO club and that is an annual dues along with quarterly....very reasonable. My biggest cost as far as training goes is the fuel. I try to go weekly to the club, but won't do that 2 hr drive if the roads are ice/snowy. |

We train twice a week to get my 3 year old male and a 6month female estate trained. The training will continue until both dogs are trained to my satisfaction. The training packages were the most expensive but the end result will be worth the work and investment. All sessions are private and they vary as far as location. The $35,000 investment was hard to justify but I felt you get what you pay for.
