shilo shepherds

i have looked around the internet, but what exactly is a shilo shepherd? tks steve

It's spelled Shiloh Shepherd. You can think of it as a large GSD, but there are differences in structure, appearance, and temperament. See their standard here: ISSR Shiloh Shepherd Illustrated Breed Standard

I know this dog, Starr, and she is a very awesome dog. Temperament similar to the GSD. She has a great work ethic, very willing to please, and very good drive. She's quite a nice dock diver jumping over 17' more than a few times now. Other than her size, she's in many ways similar to how people here describe their GSDs. Starr actually changed my opinion of Shilohs. They are not all "lazy, fat, huge GSDs good for nothing but laying around." Starr is as active, if not more so, than many of the dogs here.

I'd not own based simply on their size. But there are some really nice ones out there.

What I know/have been told:
They are usually sable and long-coated
They look similar to German shepherds but larger
They are generally softer in temperament

I only know what they look like from Google images. Try Shiloh (h at the end) and maybe you will get more info??? They look like long haired shepherds to me. Really snuggly.

I have a GSD and a Shiloh - my Shiloh, Glory, is on my website listed in my signature. She's not that big, a little taller than Nyxie. Seems to take them longer to fill out as she is still stuck in that lanky teenager stage and she is 19 mos old.

Michelle- Glory sure is a nice looking girl! What a nice front on her... Excellent croup also. Very nice, balanced looking dog!
