Hi everybody. I will be getting a male puppy from Sequoyah in March. My wife and I have the hardest time naming pets. He will be from the Rayna and Patron breeding. We are looking for a strong unique name. If you can throw out some names to help us it would be great.

When I knew my girl was coming I googled girl names and went down the list for hours. I found Raina = wise guardian. I didn't know her German name until I got the papers when she was delivered so I had to have something to call her and I don't really speak or pronounce German well. When I found her name was Snake my husband wanted to call her that pronouncing it like the American spelling. She was so cute with her fluffy ears and feet I just couldn't call her Snake. Sometimes when you meet them the name just comes to you but a little research for choices is always good.

I had planned on calling my boy Krypto for the 10 years I waited to get him (Krypto being Superman's super dog). Then a month or so before I got him I had made a list of names I'd liked, such as, Krypto, Dante, Kai and Link (from Zelda). Once I got him and was still undecided - the little boy next door was calling him Link, so I stuck with it.
I'm happy with his name and in a couple years I'd like to get another puppy (likely border collie and female) and name her Navi. Navi in the game is Links guiding fairy who keeps him on the right track. But I'd definitely recommend my process, figure a list of names you like and see which fits your particular dog best once you've got him. Remember, it is ok to change the name, it just means more time teaching it to him. Ideas: Krypto, Dante, Kai, Buddy (Bud), Cloud, Havoc, Sky/e, Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming pup!!!
![]() I personally prefer short, simple names though if I get a dog prenamed, I try to keep it unless he's been abused, then I change it. Of course you can register them under any name and still use your favorite call name. Here are some suggestions (yeah, they're not great) ... Ray (after dear old Mom), Pat (after Papa) or something like Al, Bill, Jack, Mac, Max, Will, etc.

Apollo and Pluto were also on my list. And if Zeus had been on my list I might have used that.

we named our airedale after the river we crossed on the way home from the breeder. he is called "hudson". as a literature major in college i may name him after an author or character from one of the many classics i have read. you may also want to look up the names of norse, greek, and roman gods. of course in my house, i do not have the final say. looking forward to pics of your new pup.
