I can look up the e-mail address of the schutzhund club that trains near here they may know the dog. Hopefully they could get into contact with the owner.

If he's really an IPO champion you would think the local schutzhund club would know him, or someone would recognize him yes. :/

That is a great idea. Hopefully it won't be too late. I am worried that the owner will actually follow through and kill the dog in the morning. He certainly hasn't made it easy for someone to go get the dog before the deadline occurs.

I have a west Germany German Shepherd that has been trained as a personal protection dog. He is an IPO champion 3 times. but sadly I have to retire him. I was going to have him put down this morning but he has given me many years of loyal service. so I,m now trying to find him a forever home for retirement purposes only. I prefer him to reside in the country with plenty of room to run. this beautiful animal is free to whoever can prove to me they can take care of him. so if you think you are that someone contact me. First he threatens to euthanize the dog. Now, if someone wants the dog they have to prove they can take care of it? That makes no sense at all. If the dog is really a champion and trained in personal protection, he could easily sell it, retired or not, instead of advertising on Craigslist. Plenty of people want protective dogs. Unless of course, the owner is getting rid of the dog because it turned on him and is no longer right in the head. Something is not right here.

I dont know if this is real or not, but there have been a rash of strange ads like this, threatening to PTS dogs if someone doesnt come and get them. The poster has listed no contact info twice, (CL warns you before it allows you to post that there is no contact info) so I'm thinking that this add was posted specifically for someone elses benefit.

Oh, now that's an interesting thought. Seems like there are much easier ways to simply share a picture though. You might be onto something though...
